Sword, the world’s leading AI health company, today announced the appointment of Caroline McGoldrick as Chief Strategy Officer. In her role, McGoldrick will lead corporate strategy, solution innovation, and market expansion, working closely with the executive team. Her focus will be on accelerating the adoption of Sword’s AI Care solutions across physical health, mental health, and care operations to advance its mission to heal billions and unlock humanity’s potential.
McGoldrick brings more than 25 years of healthcare and human capital leadership across top global consulting firms. Most recently, she served as Senior Vice President and North America Innovation & Integrated Solutions Leader within Aon’s Health Solutions practice, where she managed a 250-person specialty team across innovation, health transformation, clinical care, pharmacy, leave, and compliance. Prior to Aon, McGoldrick spent 13 years as a Partner at Mercer, advising C-suite executives and benefits leaders across thousands of global organizations.
“We are building a company that will transform how healthcare is delivered for generations to come,” said Virgílio Bento, founder and CEO of Sword. “Caroline has spent 25 years helping the world’s largest employers navigate healthcare’s complexities. She understands better than anyone why the legacy system is broken, and her leadership will be instrumental as we help organizations worldwide transition to a fundamentally new model of care.”
With healthcare costs surging toward a historic 9.5% jump in 2027, executives are under immense financial pressure. To curb these surging costs, organizations previously accumulated 15 to 20 siloed point solutions, only to face fragmented employee experiences, low engagement, and mounting administrative overhead. C-suite leaders are now demanding unified platforms that lower total cost of care while delivering measurable clinical outcomes.
“Organizations don’t need another point solution, they need a fundamentally new model of care that unlocks unprecedented access, affordability, and outcomes,” said McGoldrick. “Having had an industry-wide view of healthcare, it was clear that Sword is the undisputed industry leader in delivering on that promise. I am thrilled to join the team to help build the dominant care platform of the next decade.”
McGoldrick’s arrival comes amid rapid momentum for Sword's clinical intelligence and expanded care offerings, accelerated by the recent acquisition of Headspace. By pairing proprietary models with licensed clinicians, Sword is setting the new benchmark for how modern healthcare is accessed and delivered at global scale.
